McLaren Vale is only a 40 minute drive from Adelaide. As you approach McLaren Vale, you will see rolling hills expanding right before you showing off their fertile vineyards with many grape varieties. The cellar doors are generally smaller, with lively and quirky characters.
Local wineries are just part of the experience.
With more than 70 cellar doors to visit throughout the region and over 160 vineyards, there is something for every palate. Organic, biodynamic, small or iconic. The region really does has something for everyone. Even enjoy a cleansing craft beer from a local micro brewery. Several local transportation alternatives can also be conveniently arranged including Helavista helicopters, chooks little winery tours and uber.

Meet the grower and taste the region at the Willunga Farmers Markets open every Saturday from 8am to 12.30pm where more than 80 farmers and artisan food producers from the region sell their fresh produce. Willunga Town Square, Main Rd, Willunga.
Visit the fabulous Fleurieu Arthouse in McLaren Vale and watch the artists create or drive to the Mt Compass Art Gallery. The Fleurieu Arthouse is seriously amazing.
Explore our region’s natural beauty
Beaches, beaches, beaches. Silver Sands, Second Valley and Maslin’s (Adelaide’s only nudist beach) are all close by. National parks abound and we have walking and cycling trails between the wineries. You’ll also likely see wallabies, koalas and the odd deer in our vineyard.
The McLaren Vale Shiraz Trail Is an 8 km walking and bike trail takes you from McLaren Vale to the quaint little town of Willunga. On Saturday mornings the Willunga markets are open and offer an opportunity to meet the growers and taste the best of what the region has to offer.
If you want to extend your walk, the Shiraz Trail continues on as the Coast Walk, another 28 kms to the beautiful beach of Marino Rocks for a swim or a stroll.
